Lake Baikal (meaning "nature Lake") is a rift lake located southeast Siberia in Russia. According to the UNESCO site is the oldest lakes in the world (25 million years) and deepest (1700 meters). And contain under the surface that freezes in the cold season, 20% of the world's stock of fresh water is frozen. The average temperature then between the minimum which is -19 degrees Celsius below zero in the winter to 14 degrees Celsius in summer.
Ever wondered what it would be like to be frozen inside a giant ice cube? A team of intrepid divers decided to find out and took these extraordinary pictures of their adventure.
Andrey Nekrasov, 42, joined an adventurous group who spent an hour below the frozen surface of Russia's Lake Baikal, the world's largest lake, in temperatures of -20 degrees Centigrade.
These photos, taken at up to 50 ft deep under the crust of ice, show the incredible underwater world which few people have been able to witness.
